Intro Module: Setup

Objectives:

  • To prepare the room for the training session.
  • To pick your icebreakers.

What to Do? How?
Send Influencer Surveys to Toronto School Tools
Send Quizzes to Toronto School Tools (quiz)
Determine Transportation Logistics (if necessary). Contact local busing companies.
Clarify Room Setup and Availability. If possible, check out your training room so that you can get a feeling for how you will use it.
Find out whether your training room has wireless access. If not, make sure you have electronic and hard copies of materials ready. Contact the Training Room Management.
Determine the number of facilitators needed for the training and divide influencers into groups. The ideal ratio is 1:12. A list of participants for your training.
Consider the influencer group and training logisitics to develop a brief agenda, or a facilitator guide, that details which activities will be used.
Print out all of the Information Fair Posters and any other materials you will need (i.e. worksheets, evaluations, quizzes, etc.) In the Setup Tab and Module 1-6 Tabs
Create a materials checklist and pack all the items you will need for each module.
At the end of Day 1 training: review evaluations and make any adjustments that may be necessary (i.e. shifting influencer groups, changing facilitation methods, etc.).
Decide what follow-up process would be most effective for the influencer group. Module 6

Intro.1 - Prep the room (60 minutes before training)

Purpose:

  • The purpose of the visuals (posters) is to share information on a variety of different topics.
  • The purpose of the laptops with internet connections is to allow participants to do some sample research on the internet during the training.

Instructions:

  1. Give yourself plenty of time to set up the room for Influence in Action.
  2. Post all Information Fair posters on the walls.
  3. Check that all laptops are working and the necessary internet/WiFi connections are ready to use.

Intro.2 - Energizers (15-20 minutes each)

Purpose of Energizers:

  • To shake up the group and get them moving.
  • To role model sharing information on a variety of topics in a fun and interactive way.

Instructions:

  • Each energizer is related to the posters you have put up on the wall.
  • Try to use as many of them as you can during the training.
