OPEN EVERY DOORWAY

Life's a hall of doorways
With only one you may go through
So don't tie yourself down now
With someone not right for you.

But if behind another door
You chance once more upon my name
Then come on back to me
Perhaps I'll love you just the same.

But my life's a hall of doorways
For me to travel too
And my hopes and dreams are things
Totally foreign to you.

So open every doorway
As you go down life's long hall
For what's behind the next door
Just may well surpass them all.

Students Editor's Comments

"Expresses that teenagers have complex emotions about love and life,
beyond giggling over cute guys."

"This poem is an excellent piece of writing for teens, letting them know that they have lots of options and they should explore them all before choosing one."
