Foster Parents

They tell you your rights
They tell you where you stand
They tell you what they expect
yet, they don't have your life planned

They comfort you
when your in tears
they make you feel safe
and free from fears

However hard your home life
may have been
They're always there
to take you in

I realize it's not the same
in every circumstance
the positive side of the situation
is what I write to enhance

There are foster parents out there
who will lend a helping hand
to a child who's been pushed
in to a world of quicksand

So please keep this in mind
when your world starts to slide
There are people to turn to
There are people in which you can confide.

"Pretty good poem. It leaves you feeling hopeful that there are some people who care"
"Many people understand what she's talking about, and it 's well written."
"I believe this is a good poem, and that foster parents should be recognized a lot more than they are."
