TIPS ON HOW TO HOST AN INTERNATIONAL STUDENT

Host organization must know a little background on the following:

I. Culture
* Cultural differences and similarities may cause the international student to feel uncomfortable.

II. Food
* Food is the source of energy for the human body. The host organization must be aware of the kind of foods that the international students are used to and must be taken at the proper time and proper meal.

* The host organization can change the kind of food little by little for adjustment purposes.

III. Language
* Language is the basic tool for communication. The host organization must know and understand the level of understanding of the English language.

* She/He might feel uneasy and starts thinking about going home.

* She/He might feel that he is not supposed to be in this place.
