About Asia Connects

WHEN:Originally the Asia Connects conference was going to be held from May 4th to May 11th, 1997, but due to the unfortunate flooding in Winnipeg (the main site), the conference was postponed until September 28th to October 5th.

WHERE: Winnipeg, Manitoba will be the main connection point, while sites across Canada will be connected to Winnipeg by computer technology. There is a site in every province plus one in Labrador West and one in Rankin Inlet, NWT, to make a total of 13 sites.

WHY: This is the first time something like this is being done. You will learn more about Asia and it's connection to you. You will also learn about multimedia technology. You will make contacts with students across Canada and even in Asia. It's going to be lots of fun.

HOW: The opening and closing ceremonies will be broadcast live via Video Conferencing from Winnipeg to most sites. Those sites that don't have access to a video conferencing facility will participate to the opening and closing ceremonies by alternate means.
