MAKING ASIA PART OF YOUR LIFE

 

Leslie Zegalski was in her early twenties when she began teaching in Japan. She has come to tell us about how it changed her life. She runs the Manitoba office of the Asia Pacific Foundation of Canada.

Calvin Dang is a third generation Chinese who grew up in Canada and lost his linguistic roots. He shares with us his adventures in Taiwan to rediscover his language. He is a teacher at Windsor Secondary School in British Columbia.

Johanna Shapira will talk about her travels to Thailand, Vietnam and Bangkok. She is the coordinator of the Asia Pacific Management Program at Capilano College.

Dino Riccio is a photographer by trade who first became involved with Asia 15 years ago when he was sent to Hong Kong for a photo shoot. He has just returned to Canada after attending the Hong Kong Handover festivities.

James Healey is a tutor and substitute teacher in Newfoundland. He was posted in Kyoto, Japan for one year and will speak to us about his experiences there.

Brad Clarke is a teacher in Newfoundland. When speaking on the Panel Making Asia Part of Your Life, Brad will share some of his experiences in marrying into a Korean family.

Carol King will discuss some of her experiences while on her expedition to Asia promoting Memorial University of Newfoundland to Asian students, and note some of the many aspects of the different cultures which opened her eyes to the differences and similarities between Canada and the Asia Pacific region.
