Hi, I'm Leo, reporting live from Kew Beach P.S. In the past few weeks we have been studying famous Canadian heroes. I have been studying Alexander Mackenzie. He was a fur trader and then later became an explorer. He was the one who found a waterway (Mackenzie River) to the Arctic Ocean. Now that's it for me. Back to you, Sarah.

Hi, I'm Sarah and I'm here to tell you about a remarkable Canadian, Marion Hilliard. She was a gynocologist in Toronto. Nothing got handed to her on a silver platter, though. Marion had to put up a long and tiring fight, but she got what she wanted in the long run. Marion is a big part of the women's rights movement and she will not be forgotten. Over to you, Kiri.

Hi, I'm Kiri. I did a project on Timothy Eaton, one of the greatest merchandisers of the world. He started out working with his brother in a small shop, then married and opened his own store in Toronto on Yonge Street. It was a very small store but grew by its surprising advertisements. Timothy Eaton loved horses but was thrown off the back of one and fractured a hip. This left severe pain for the last few years of his life. As a memorial to him his family built The Eaton Memorial Church. Over to you, Andrew.

Hi, I'm Andrew and I'm going to tell you about Casimir Gzowski. He was a railroad and bridge builder. He was born in 1813 and died in 1898. He built famous bridges like the Grand Trunk Railway from Toronto to Detroit and helped build the street everybody now knows as Yonge Street. I hope this report will encourage you to read about many other fascinating Canadians.

Bonjour, je m'appelle Kiri. J'ai étudié Timothy Eaton, un des commerçants le plus prospère du monde. Il s'est lancé en commerce avec son frère dans un petit magasin. Il s'est marié et s'est ouvert son propre magasin à Toronto, sur la rue Yonge. Grace à une campagne de publicité, le magasin à grandi très rapidement. Timothy Eaton adorait les chevaux, mais s'est blessé en tombant de son cheval. Il s'est cassé le col du fémur, une blessure qui lui a dérangé pendant les dernières années de sa vie. La famille Eaton a fait construire l'église «Eaton Memorial» en son memoire. À toi, Andrew.
