SchoolNet is a Canadian electronic information network, showcasing the work and projects of students, schools and educators across the country. SchoolNet explores a wide range of topics, including the many issues outlined in Rescue Mission: Planet Earth. Maybe you and your school want to create a project and showcase it on SchoolNet. Winner of "best Canadian government website", Environment Canada has an extensive website that explores many environmental, ecological and weather issues, and offers information on the activities of this government department. Environment Canada also participated in the creation of the Canadian Edition of Rescue Mission: Planet Earth, and is always looking for new and innovative ways to unite youth with environmental issues. Peace Child International is the youth organization in Britain that started assembling the original international edition of Rescue Mission. Their mandate is to work with children and youth around the world, and they have created their own website on Rescue Mission. (This is an English-only site)



UNICEF stands for the United Nations Children's Fund. It is not only one of the partnering UN agencies for the international edition of Rescue Mission, but they have a dynamic website that looks at childern and war, poverty, illiteracy, health ... the list is endless. (This site is bilingual.)

UNEP (also known as the United Nation's Environment Programme) is another partner of the the international edition of Rescue Mission, which offers a wealth of resources and information on environment-related issues world-wide. UNEP also runs a fairly extensive youth program and hosts a Global Youth Forum for young people around the world to further explore these issues. (This site is English-only.)

UNDP, the United Nations Development Programme, is anorther United Nations partner of the the international edition of Rescue Mission. If your interest is developmental issues, then the UNDP site is ideal. (This site is English-only.)

UNESCO, the United Nations Education, Scientific and Cultural Organization is another excellent source of information on UN and international activities. UNESCO's site offers databases and programmes, publications, a document service, and , of course, information on current events. (This site is bilingual.)

The Fourth World Conference on Women took place in Beijing, 1995 and dealt with many of the same issues as the Rio Earth Summit and Rescue Mission, but paid particular attention to the status and the situation of women in the process.

Habitat II, or the UN Conference on Human Settlements, is currently taking place in Istanbul, Turkey, June 4 - 14th, 1996. Concerned with the broader issues of urbanization, sustainable development, housing , poverty... and so on, this site is an ideal source for lots of information. (This site is English-only.)
