From
March 5th to March 11th, over 250 young people from Canada and the Americas
participated in the Youth Forum of the Americas which was organized by The Students
Commission. We are concerned youth ranging in age from 14 to 19. We gathered
here because of a common interest in world issues. We came from all corners
of the Americas, motivated by our passion for improving human issues in this
hemisphere and in the world. We have shared stories and experiences, learned
to respect our differences and rejoiced in our similarities.
Each
day began with interactive presentations on such issues as education, poverty,
globalization, human rights, citizenship, health and the environment. Delegates
brought their varied histories and knowledge to team meetings where discussion
and the creation of recommendations took place. The report that you hold is
the crystallization of our ideas.
