SUSTAINING OUR TROUBLED EARTH

Are sustainable use issues important? People around the world have used, and will continue to use the worlds living natural resources. As the global population increases, so the resulting availability of ressources drastically decreases. Overpopulation and a high level of consumption (excessive harvesting, fishing, and hunting) puts many of the local wild species at high risk of extinction.

Many conservationists agree that there is a dire need for better advice regarding management and use of natural resources globally and locally. It is crucial to recognize the importance of this issue and to make sustainable consumption of natural resources a central plank of the IUCN. Many experts believe that in order to conserve resources, we as inhabitants of the earth, must have incentives in place to motivate people to sustain their available resources in order to benefit both nature and people.
