As soon as Canadians, young and old, were aware of the fact that
landfills were beginning to create a problem for their
environment, they reacted. We have, over the past 10 years, come
to realize that in being able to minimize our waste, we had to put
into action the 3 R's: Reuse, Reduce and Recycle. What an
outstanding idea!
In Ontario by itself, between the years of 1987 and 1992,
residents reduced their waste by 21 per cent. The key to getting
people to be aware of their actions whether bad or good is to
educate and communicate to them. By doing so they are able to
discover for themselves the benefits that arise. Being aware of
your surroundings is truly a essential start.
