The Safe Grad takes place in a gym or fitness centre--for Grad 2000 it was The Memorial University Physical Education Centre. The facilities were awesome. We had access to a pool, a gym and a variety of rooms for fun activities. For those driving, parking was accessible and close to the centre.

After an evening of eating, dancing and picture-taking, graduates have an hour more or so to make it from the hotel, where our dinner and dance occur, to the physical education centre. Once graduates arrive, they receive an envelope filled with "play" money for the casino and auction; they can head to the "food room" for a chunk of a Subway party sub, cookies, unlimited drinks, or even all types of pizza. The "food room" remains open all night; as does a fake coffee shop where there is unlimited hot chocolate, coffee, and caffeinated beverages. (It was appropriately named "Tim Huttons!") I was also most impressed by the nacho machine, complete with cheese machine, rented from a local movie theatre! Yum!

The activities were ongoing throughout the night. A bouncy castle was rented from a local circus, and although I would not advise bouncing after party sub as one of my best guy friends did; it makes for alot of post-grad fun. A fortune teller room is also present, four real fortune wizzes predict the future fame and health of graduates. Swimming, sports, a casino, prize draws on the hour and a picture booth rounded out the evening.

Although I may have retired from my Safe Grad an hour before it finished, it was definitely the best way to end my senior year. We got to spend one final night with friends we have had throughout high school, junior high or even kindergarten! Most people head to Safe Grad and everyone admits it is definitely worth the 15 bucks for unlimited food, drinks and fun!
