Youth Action Projects Project #1
The project we have chosen is an awareness program. An awareness program that would allow us to do workshops in schools with young children. Another way to tell children that help is available is through commercials on TV as well as at the beginning of movies. We also hope that down the road there will be courses offered at elementary schools that deal with child poverty and many other issues.
Project #2
The second project is a free after-school drop-in service. This service will be run by volunteers. Things such as access to computers, playgrounds, gymnasiums, libraries, films, organized activities, snacks and, of course, tutoring will be offered. The intention is to aid children who may not otherwise have the resources or help at home. The program will also offer companionship.
Project #3
This project would be set up and run by a group of youth volunteers who would be responsible for organizing a "buddy-reading program."This program would be run after school and on weekends in both schools and public libraries or any other suitable facility. The resources would be provided by the facility.
This project will provide family support and bring people from a variety of backgrounds and ages together. It will establish role models for children and motivate and help them to get ahead in school. If children in the reading program enjoy themselves then the "domino effect" will occur and these children will become stronger youth, thus helping the next generation of young children. This will help the project grow and prosper.
Project #4
Youth will instruct children in activities such as sports, computer technologies and music lessons. This would take place in parks, schools and other community centres.
Our project will give other youth and children an opportunity to develop self-confidence in themselves through a variety of extra-curricular activities that young children can take part in.
This project will help communities grow closer together and let children have a chance to learn fun and exciting things. It will also allow under-privileged children to experience these luxuries which they could not normally afford.
