Can it be true? Can John Travolta really do nothing wrong? So far there's no evidence to prove that he is, in fact, capable of failure.

Grease is the latest Travolta triumph in about eight months. Lacking the strong story line that made Saturday Night Fever a runaway sensation late last year, Travolta nonetheless manages to make Grease a rollicking, easy-to-take occasion for the audience.

Not that Big John hasn't had plenty of time to become famliar with the script. It was as a member of the touring production of the stage play Grease that Travolta got his big break in show business. Now he plays the part of Danny Zuko, leader of the T-Birds cycle gang, as if he was born for it. And, in a sense, he was.

Often, Travolta carries the show single-handedly. Olivia Newton-John may have many talents but singing and dancing aren't among them. Worse yet, the lady proved incapable of altering her heavy Australian accent.

The music is nothing special - particularly when stacked up against that dynamite soundtrack from Saturday Night Fever - but, when Travolta isn't on the screen, it is all that keeps the film alive.

All told, Grease proves reasonably successful. But Travolta deserves better scripts for his talents.
