Passion For Art
By:Rubia De Avila
Are you a young artist? If so, this article should be of interest
to you. As a young artist myself, who is interested in expanding my
artistic abilities in animation and graphic arts, I could be of some
assistance to you. Consider these topics:
Art and it's evolution. Computers are being used by artists with more
frequency, due to their speed. Many artists believe that computers
are able to do just as good or better art work than humans. Todd Ward
a graphic artist for TG Magazine began his involvement with art at
the age of 16 doing part-time illustrations for newspapers, and ice
sculptures for his father, a chef. Ward has a bachelor of fine arts
fromYork University. He is specialized in graphic computer
design.
Ward believes that it's important for youth to be involved in art not
only for themselves, but for the community. If they feel the urge to
draw, they should communicate their feelings through art. Youth can
get involved with art through community courses, art classes,
co-operative education programs, and even by asking their parents for
drawing kits for Christmas. Ward believes that youth can get involved
with art by simply showing their interest in artistic issues.
Ward doesn't think that computers create art work, people use them as
any other tools to create things. For him it's important to have good
tools for computer graphics. He finds that computers are great in
terms of saving time therefore, they're great tools to humans. Ward
prefers to work with a computer when doing designs with images. He
also finds doing page layouts in the computer much easier and
faster.
Ward maintains that both sets of tools meaning computers and the
artist's hands have their place. Every designer or artist has their
own preference at different times in a project. By mixing and
matching traditional tools with computers, learning to use all the
tools at your disposal will only enhance the art product.
Ward thinks that some artists will still use their own hands when
creating art work in the future, because some people find ideas flow
easier on to paper at the earlier stages of design.
There is more to art then computers. If you still feel that this
article hasn't being helpful to you about specific artistic issues
such as: the involvement of youth in art, the development of people's
artistic skills, and where to go when furthering your education in
art, continue reading this article for your satisfaction!
How can a young person get involved with art? Well, you could start
by taking art courses, joining art clubs at your high school, and
visiting art galleries. You can even be part of small artistic
competitions which occur in many school boards, suggests Mrs.
Mastihuba art and photography teacher of George Harvey C.I., a
secondary school in the Toronto area.
How would you be able to develop your artistic abilities? Developing
your drawing and painting skills is a very easy thing to do by
reading books like: "The History of Art" by Viscount, "Great French
Painting" by the Barnes Foundation, or
"Abstraction-Geometry-Painting" by Auping Abram and "Responsive
Drawing" by Prentice Hall. By reading these books you'll comprehend
the philosophy of art and it's importance as well as refine your
artistic abilities. You could also develop your artistic abilities by
practising how to draw and paint. After all "practice makes perfect",
said Micha Hunter a youth artist from York Memorial High School.
If you think you have a talent for art, you shouldn't waste time!
Think about taking art courses now so when the time for furthering
your formal education comes, you'll have a head of start.
How do you further your education in the art field in Ontario,
Canada? If you're thinking about becoming an animator, Sheridan
College is the place to go. Sheridan College offers a three year
course on animations as a practical tool for teaching and selling.
This program will enable you to work closely with professionals,
develop the skills of human and animal dramatisation and study the
full discipline of animated film production.
If you're interested in Graphic Design, you should think about taking
the Advertising and Graphic Design program at Humber College which
will provide you with a firm foundation in drawing, and rendering
techniques, typographic skills and other art theories. Those from
other regions and areas of Canada who are interested in the artistic
field should contact their local school board for information on art
courses and formal education.
Don't hesitate to become involved with art, because there are many
careers in artistic fields, Architectural Design Technology,
Advertising Media Sales, Interior Design, General Arts and Science
Developmental Studies as well as Graphic Arts and Commercial
Animation courses, which wait to be explored by young, adventurous
artists like you!
