YOUTH CAUCUS PRESENTATION

 

Engaging Individual Action from Primary Stakeholders

Recommendations:

Put a predetermined proportion of economic taxes towards projects which conserve, protect, and enhance the environment with an emphasis on education and youth to encourage sustainable practices.

Facilitate partnerships and linkages between individuals and community-based groups by exchanging ideas, working on projects together and sharing resources.

Create and raise individual awareness of environmental issues by sharing experiences and knowledge through media, Internet, brochures and workshops.

Integrate environmental activities in our daily lives and create community programs about environmental issues. Vehicle emission clinics and environmental awareness concerts are examples.

 

Plan of Action:

Government Action

Introduce ecological taxes to fund projects and partnerships

Allocate and commit funds for environmental projects

Develop projects in partnership with youth

 

Youth Action

Propose and implement projects to encourage sustainable practices.

Coordinate hands on conservation, protection and enhancement projects- tree planting, environmental impact assessments, policy proposals, bird nesting boxes, composting in local communities.

Coordinate vehicle emission clinics and environmental awarenes benefit concerts.

Promote the use of internet homepages, interactive websites, and bulletin board presentations by people working in environmental fields, industry, government, activists, NGO's
