Here's how the Blueprint project will be developed in our three sites over the next 15 months...

January-March 2012 (Community Building, Studying and Discussing the Issue)

  • Complete facilitator training for three sites in Toronto
  • Core facilitators start up weekly youth group meetings in their community
  • Group participants sign release forms and complete the Snapshot Engagement Survey
  • Discussion notes are typed up and shared on the public website after each meeting
  • HHFS sheets are distributed and collected, results are typed up and sent to our lead researcher: Judit Alcalde c/o 23 Isabella Street, Toronto, ON M4Y 1M7
  • During youth group meetings, core facilitators work with the Young Decision Makers process to study and discuss the issue in their community
  • During this phase, participants will identify their community needs and whether there are similarities or differences based on gender
  • Facilitators connect with local organizations and schools to begin developing partnerships on the project for the workshops

By the end of this quarter, participants should have thoroughly studied and discussed the issue setting up the next quarter for decision making and action

April-June 2012 (Decision-Making, Informing Decision-Makers and Action Planning)

  • Core facilitators and youth groups develop their workshops and workshop tools (posters, videos, music, etc.)
  • Core facilitators work with their groups to decide on actions to take in the development of their workshops
  • Core facilitators and youth groups begin to identify other young people and partners who may be interested in helping to develop and co-facilitate the workshops
  • Core facilitators work with local organizations and school boards to setup launch of workshops in the fall
  • Youth groups work with the other sites through the evaluation committee to complete the evaluation tools needed for their workshops
  • Youth groups in the three sites decide on potential partnerships in their communities to launch the workshops

By the end of this quarter, a workshop will be developed, evaluation tools for the workshop will be in place, school boards will be ready for a fall launch and prospective facilitators identified.

July-September 2012

  • Core facilitators develop training plans for facilitators
  • Youth facilitators complete facilitator training (for all three sites) before the school year
  • Core facilitators begin re-connecting with partners and schools to launch workshops in the schools
  • Scheduling procedures are developed for those interested in booking workshops and shared with the community
  • Evaluation committee meets at national training to make any changes that may be necessary to evaluation processes
  • Youth groups can be shut down locally for the summer, they will be re-started for the new school year in August or September
  • Training for youth facilitators can happen during the summer via a national meeting

By the end of this quarter, facilitator team is trained and ready to go, workshops are launched and evaluated.

October-December 2012

  • Workshops occur in schools and with community organizations (as much as possible and as needed) Evaluation results are sent to lead researcher Judit Alcalde c/o of 23 Isabella Street, Toronto, ON M4Y 1M7
  • Core facilitators check in with youth facilitators regularly throughout this period to provide support
  • Youth groups continue to meet to provide support and feedback on the issues and to look at ways to continue the project beyond the contribution period
  • Evaluation committee begins to take a look at the information collected and recommends change where necessary, they also develop an action plan for the final report

By the end of this quarter, workshops are occurring in the community, evaluation results are collected and analyzed and a final report action plan is put in place.

January-March 2013

  • Workshops continue in the schools and evaluation results are collected and sent to the lead researcher Judit Alcalde c/o of 23 Isabella Street, Toronto, ON M4Y 1M7
  • Youth group continues to meet regularly and maps out plan for successful ending of the program
  • Final report is prepared in partnership with the evaluation committee

By the end of this quarter, workshops continue to occur in the community, evaluation results are collected, participants/facilitators successfully close the program in their community and a final report is completed with youth input.
