We have invited
* youth between the ages of 15 and 19 from countries
throughout the Americas, who are interested in
discovering what they have in common.
* youth who would like to talk about social issues, equal
rights and equal opportunities for all.
* youth who would like to network and work together to
achieve practical, concrete results.
* youth who lack opportunities to access international
programs because of a variety of barriers, such as low
income, race, ethnicity, language, geography and family
situation...
The Youth Forum is a 7-day international youth
conference, taking place in Quebec City, Canada, March
5-11,2001. During the Forum, youth from all over the
Americas identify their common values, issues and
concerns. They will prepare a report to be circulated to
international agencies and governments, which will
outline an action plan for achieving practical concrete
results, in which they can play a role. Young people will
be able to expand their horizons,
their skills and influence happenings on a global and
local level. They will learn, work, and play together in
a community atmosphere, with the chance to share music,
art, stories, values and beliefs. They will work together
in three different languages: English, French and Spanish
in small group discussions and plenary sessions.
The Youth Forum occurs one month before the Summit of the
Americas where the leaders of the Americas will gather in
Quebec City. The Youth Forum creates the opportunity for
youth to define their priorities and set out a vision to
send to the leaders of the Summit.
The
Youth Forum of the Americas is created and organized by
The Students Commission of Canada, in partnership with
Foreign Affairs and International Trade Canada. and
Exchanges Canada, a part of the Department of Canadian
Heritage.
