Where is it: Cyberspace
What is it:
Not everyone will be able to attend the national conference in Winnipeg. At the same time, maybe not everyone wants to!
But that doesn't mean you can't be involved.
There will be other conferences happening at the same time as the Winnipeg one. These will be called virtual sites. For those at one of these sites, it will be virtually like being in Winnipeg. The sites will communicate via virtual reality, or cyberspace.
Live web chats, video conferencing, phone conferencing, e-mail... The virtual sites will be a mini re-creation of the national conference! The distances between the sites work for us, as we learn to use the new technology to make the country smaller.
Ideally, there will be one in each province/territory in Canada (12). At present, there are sites confirmed for Vancouver, Calgary, Saskatoon, Toronto, Montréal, Halifax, Charlottetown, Moncton, Labrador and Bay Roberts.
People at the virtual sites are not the losers that didn't make it to the Winnipeg site! They will have just as much input into what is said. More importantly, they will be pioneers in using the newest communication technology for long-distance education and business.
