Multisite Programs in BriefSites will connect to each other courtesy of Bell Learning Solutions and its Alliance Partners using Public Videoconferencing Rooms across the country. Bell Learning Solutions and the Bell Centre for Distance Education at George Brown College in Toronto provided videoconferencing training at a distance for all the youth who will run the videoconferences.
Sympatico will host Discussion Forums on its server both during the conference, September 29-October 4, and after the conference for youth to continue the dialogue for the rest of 1997. CBC Radio will host Live Realtime webchat during the week of the conference, for 24 hour on-line dialogue during the event.
Sites have been organised by 30 youth, hired by The Students Commission of Canada, and TG Magazine, under grants from Human Resources Development Canada. Each site has received the sponsorship and support of many local and provincial organisations. The Students Commission has been working in collaboration with The Asia Pacific Foundation of Canada, with the support of the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade to develop the core program and content available to all sites and anyone with a web browser anywhere in the world. This entire web site has been built and will continue to be built by the youth participating in this learning event.
Please check The Players section of this web site to see the true size and nature of this enormous collaboration and team effort. Special thanks to Jon Ord, of Kids from Kanata, and York University for training and setting a First Class Network to assist the the entire national team in their collaborative planning across the continent.
