A World Premiere Distance Learning Event A concurrent series of youth conferences, both face-to-face and completely electronic, connected by internet, videoconferencing, audioconferencing. Youth across the world will work together to create a learning resource on Asia-Pacific relations and potentially a series of recommendations on building a global youth communications infrastructure. Dates: September 28 - October 5, 1997, Canada's Youth Week.

- Connecting, communicating and learning across distances
- Making Asia part of your life: at the personal level and as a career focus
- Identifying and appreciating the similarities and differences between contemporary Asia and Canada
- Building and strengthening relationships between Canada and Asia
- Increasing communication and dialogue between Canadian youth from across Canada and Asian youth
- Skill training for participating youth and educators in media and multimedia technology, cross cultural communication, networks and distance learning.
Product Outcomes
- A prototype Learning Activities kit on Asia and Canada that can be further refined for publishing and distribution to educational institutions as a resource
- A National Youth Report, with recommendations on how to achieve the themes, which can be fed into the youth component of the Asia Pacific Economic Co-operation Ministerial meetings held in Canada this year and to the APEC Leaders Meeting in Vancouver, November 1997.
- An Evaluation and Repeatable Model of this Learning Event, which can be repeated for other content and subject areas.
