HOW:

Types of participation in the Asia Connects Program

Type A:

In Canada, there will be 12 face-to-face sites, with up to 200 participants, receiving multipoint videoconferencing connections. At each of these sites, one in every province and territory in Canada, youth and educators will follow the same core programming, discuss the same issues and make recommendations to a central web site. The multipoint videoconferencing will connect all 12 sites at key times, and particpants will hear addresses from key speakers and experts, including Canada's Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Honorable Lloyd Axworthy.

Type B:

A second level of sites, from anywhere in the world, may register and connect to the core programming and first-level participants through point to point videoconferencing, web chats, electronic forums. They will follow the same program, discuss the same issues and also make recommendations to the central web site.

Type C:

·A third level of sites may connect simply through the web without videoconferencing and will be encouraged to register as participants, in order to participate in electonic forums and to receive recognition. Sites are encouraged to particpate for all 7 days of programming, but may tailor the length of the program to individual needs.

Type D:

Any one individual or group may access through a web browsermuch of the core content and follow the progress of theconference, its core programming and speakers, through a standard web browser.
