OVERVIEW OF ASIA

Dr.William Saywell talks about the wonderful world of economics in Asia. He is the President of the Asia Pacific Foundation of Canada.

Doug Taylor is a teacher at Kelvin High School in Manitoba. He explores the geographical and political issues that affect Asia's ability to come together as a region.

Christopher Thomson looks at the meaning behind cultural symbols such as sacred cows in India and rice bowls in Southeast Asia. He is also with the Asia Pacific Foundation of Canada in Montreal.

Jennifer You Ju Clarke has had many experiences with Asian--specifically Korean--culture. In 1993, she represented Canada at the '93 Expo in South Korea. Jennifer will be speaking in Newfoundland about exposing Asian culture.

Dr. Geoff Farmer is a retired Geography professor from Memorial University. He had the opportunity to travel to Sri Lanka in 1995 to work on a Coastal Zone Management Survey for Marine Institute International. Dr. Farmer notes that he really enjoyed his time in Sri Lanka, and will talk that country, and his experience working there.
