Preparation and Objectives

The workshop requires at a minimum two facilitators (1 who identifies as a boy and 1 who identifies as a girl) and is designed for a maximum of 30 participants.

Workshop Objectives:

  • To create a safe space where participants feel as if they can share their experienProparation and Objectivesces
  • To begin to discuss and take action on the issues surrounding violence in young women’s lives
  • To explore the role that gender expectations play in violence in young women’s lives

  • Blueprint Guide
  • Four Pillars Posters
  • Blank white paper for visual facilitation
  • Quote cards
  • Markers
  • Pens
  • DVD with: Gender video, Violence Video and "Respect" audio
  • Flip chart
  • Workshop Evaluations
  • Information Cards and Teacher/Youth Worker package
  • Resource List
  • Speakers
  • Hacky sack

Prep: Be sure to arrive at least 30 minutes before your workshop so that you can check-in with the teacher/youth worker, setup the room and feel comfortable. As part of your preparation:

  • Put up the Four Pillars posters around the room.
  • Put up blank visual facilitation paper so that participants can write or draw what they are feeling.
  • Have quote cards and pens available for people.
  • Ensure that your workshop space includes access to video, DVD or internet connection for the videos.
