Kainai Blood Reserve
On the Blood Reserve in Alberta, through our support and visits by Students Commission staff, we helped the Kainai Youth Council rebuild and sustain its community worker program with youth hired for the project who were mentored by staff from Kainai Children’s Services. We also assisted the Kainai Youth Council to build better connections with the Blood Tribe Police Service and Kainai Wellness, who have both expressed a willingness to support the Reclaiming Hope initiative. All these groups have contributed substantial time and personnel resources to support the initiatives and events that the youth organized, including forums, fundraising walkathons, and recreational activities for youth in the community.Several training sessions were held for members of the Kainai Youth Council and representatives travelled to Toronto and Saskatchewan for additional leadership development. We hope the tools and resources created by the Focus Three team will have a lasting impact in the community.
